What is the difference between a gas warning device, a gas warning system and a gas detection system?
The difference is only in the way of the further processing of the measuring signals. In principle, a gas warning device, a gas warning system and a gas detection system consist of a gas measuring system (also: gas detector) and a control center. This control center, which is called a limit value detector, evaluates the measuring signals of the gas measuring system and initiates further actions depending on the latter.
Gas warning device and gas warning system
The gas warning device and the gas warning system warns in time of an explosive or toxic gas. For this reason, the limit indicator in this case will trigger an optical and / or acoustic alarm and initiate measures for personal protection, such as, for example, ventilation, disconnection or clearing of the installation.
Gas detection system
A gas detection system merely reports the presence or the concentration of a gas or steam in air. For example, in industrial composting the air supply is regulated by the oxygen concentration in the compost rent. The triggering of an alarm is not necessary in this case, it is sufficient if the limit alarm regulates the air supply.
As our devices are used in a variety of ways, we have opted for the term "gas detection system". But of course all our gas detection systems can be used as a gas warning device or gas warning system.
Basically, all sensors and gas measuring systems consist of two main components, the sensor element and the transmitter. The sensor element detects the concentration of a gas or steam, the transmitter prepares the sensor signals and converts these into a measured value. This measured value is output as an analog or digital signal from the transmitter.
The gas sensor (sensor element) is the masterpiece of our sensors and gas measuring systems. It recognizes the concentration of a gas or steam in a physical or chemical manner.
Depending on the gas or steam to be measured and the application area, various measuring principles are used.
